A new look

For my Birthday this year I want to re- do my room. I am tired of the Shabby chic look and I want something different.

I have found the perfect bedding!

The Painterly Paisley Collection will go nicely with the color of my walls. I am also going to get the striped blue sham as well.

This pillow is also a must! I love how simple it is with the vintage looking writing.

I want to also add in some galvanized accessories
to keep with the beach cottage theme of my house. I am thinking these would look nice placed on top of the window shutters.

I found this print and my husband and I think this will add a pop of color to one of the walls. I don't want things to match too much. I think green will be a nice pop of color.

I found this print at vintage printable.com. This is a great site to find art for your home. I like the shade of blue/green on the butterfly and I will keep it as an option.

I will also add some coral and star fish. I would also like to find a nice pair of white curtains to flank each side of the shutters.

The look for less

It was LOVE at first site when I saw this shower curtain from Anthropologie. But at 98 big ones it was way out of my league. Even though I was considering asking for it for my birthday ( I know I am weird).
I saw this one at Target.com and at the bargain price of 29.99 it was more in my price range without having to give up my birthday present. I was able to order it today and it was on sale too. For 26.99 and free shipping I was able to get the same look for a lot less. There are some differences but I can live them. I can't wait to get this beauty hung in my master bath!

Now that's a deal!

Rooms that Inspire

All these rooms gave me inspiration...

I just love everything about this room!

I love the soft pink walls .

I love the little side table in the perfect shade of Robins Egg Blue.

I love the soft blue walls with the bold colors of the bedding and rug.

This last photo is my favorite.
The mix of floral patterns and shades of pink makes this so great!

Painting a tree

It all started with Rate My Space. It seems painting tree's or adding tree vinyl's has been the thing to do in children's rooms. I really like how each tree I saw was unique and added personality to the room.

This is the one I fell in LOVE with so simple and delicate.

I woke up Thursday morning with the mindset that I was gonna paint a tree on the blank wall in Dylann's room. To be honest I was a little scared to paint a brown tree in a very pink room.

I started out with sketching a the tree on a piece of paper. I wanted to be sure I could even draw a tree first before I painted one. Once it was drawn and it actually looked like a tree ( I asked my husband 10 times if he was sure). I set off to buy the supplies.

Once I had it sketched. I started painting it with a dark brown craft paint. The kind you can get at Micheals. It took several shades of brown to give it the right shading.

I used a mix of silk flowers from the Dollar tree and paper ones in different shades of pink. I hot glued them directly to the wall.

The birdhouse was only .59 cents so I had to buy it. I painted it a darker shade of pink with the roof the same green as the leaves. I hot glued some paper flowers to it and about 6 hours later Dylann had her tree.

In total this project only cost me about 20 bucks. Not bad at all for something that really makes a statement. I am extremely glad I did! Pretty much every night since I have painted it Dylann has thanked me for her tree : )

Pinkalicious

My younger daughter just moved out of the room she has been sharing with her older sister. Dylann has been patiently waiting for her own pink room for a year now. The time has now come for this little girls wish to come true! I have been planning this room for the past year scouring hundreds of images of shabby chic rooms and little girl rooms. I knew pink walls were a must and I had tons of bedding and other various items I have collected over the years from the Rachel Ashwell "Simply Shabby Chic" line. So it made sense to do a shabby chic style room.I didn't take any before pictures because I just wanted to forget how it looked! My sister was living in the room and it was not pretty, more like a danger zone ; ) If you have teenagers at home then you know what I am talking about. I feel bad for her dorm roommate!!!

I had always loved these DREAM letters but at 30 bucks they were out of my price range. I was able to snag them up for 8 bucks after months and months of waiting for them to go on clearance. It was worth the wait : ) I was also able to get the bunting on sale too.

With all my searching pom-poms are really in right now. I just love how they add so much whimsy to any room. I was able to use a Micheals coupon for 40% off so I only paid about 11 bucks for them. A total score!!! The blue lamp and night light are Simply Shabby Chic that I bought about 4 yrs ago. The shade was in bad shape so I simply hot glued pink roses to it.

More pom-poms and butterflies

This chair belonged to my mother in law before it was given to me. It was white before and for a while it was holding our towels in the master vanity area. I wanted to give it a little more life. I painted it a robins egg blue, covered it with pink and white fabric and added the little pom-pom detail at the bottom. I just love how it turned out.

I think I have a very happy little girl now :)

It was a great day

Today was a great day! We celebrated the girls 4th and 7th Birthday's. We had a small little party with a few family members and some friends. We decided to spend less on a party and buy them a 13ft trampoline. I have to say what a GREAT choice we made the trampoline was a big hit! It was jumped on all day and into the night. They even wanted to skip dinner to jump, lol. The girls had a blast and they even got their fill of swimming in to. Atleast they had a nice week before school starts...
